Quackers All Around
As autumn and summer battle it out, the migration south is in full swing. I’ve never really paid much attention to the migration in previous years. Birds come and go, the leaves turn colors and eventually, the snow arrives. This year, however, is different - it’s so interesting to see how the migration south is so much different than the migration north.
Birds aren’t singing, leaves are everywhere and really, the only birds that are easily found are ducks. While I can appreciate the water birds, I really miss the singing and far more vibrant colors of song birds.
As I am walking around the local parks I’m reminded of how fleeting time is. Another summer is gone, my kids are older, maturing (and immatur-ing) into little humans. It’s funny, you don’t realize how quickly time moves until you reflect on what has been. This spring and summer has been filled with plenty of memories, from my birding adventures to family camping trips and vacations out west. Despite all of the fun, I am a little sad that another summer is over.
Perhaps my sadness comes from realizing that life is not infinite - or more so that life is infinite, just not mine or the people I care about. We all grow older but even when we pass, life for others, goes on.
So, take a moment to reflect on your summer, on your life - are you doing the things you’d like to do? Are you happy? Is your family? Well, if not, perhaps now is the time to start to change that, even small changes can have big impacts.
I know this post has made me reflect about the last few months. Reflecting on what I’ve liked, not liked, where I could have done or been better - the examples are infinite. It’s important, you know, to reflect, to learn, to have some hindsight, it’s we can grow, as humans.
Thanks for reading, until next time…
